TAPPI-563 Visible Dirt
Equivalent Black Area (EBA)
Similar to the dirt counter but require the TAPPI-563 standards to run. The standards calibrate the scanner and software to measure the reflectivity of measured specks and adjust their measurements the meet T-563.
The method measures the physical speck size, the speck luminance value, and from these adjusts the totals using the calibration standards, to report the EBA PPM. In addition, specks are reported by physical size classes and the average speck EBA within each.
